I-64 and I-264 Interchange
The I-64/I-264 Interchange to Witchduck Road Project is intended to relieve congestion and improve traffic operations from westbound I-64 to eastbound I-264 at the I-64/I-264 interchange in the Hampton Roads area.
What will the project include?
The project will include construction of a new collector-distributor (CD) road, which runs parallel to the main interstate and handles traffic entering and exiting at interchange, and widening of multiple areas. Additional changes to be made during the construction are as follows:
- A second exit lane will be constructed on I-64 west and an off-ramp to I-264 east will be widened.
- A flyover ramp from westbound I-64 will tie into the existing eastbound I-264 CD road.
- A new two-lane CD road will be built from I-64 to the Witchduck Road Interchange.
- The Newtown Road and Witchduck Interchanges will be reconfigured, a new overpass connecting Greenwich Road and Cleveland Street, taking drivers to eastbound I-264.
Public hearings have been held and a request for proposals for this project is scheduled for 2017.
