Dominion Boulevard

Dominion Boulevard construction

Soon the Chesapeake, Va., region will see less congestion and traffic delays thanks to improvements being made to Dominion Boulevard. The Dominion Boulevard project began construction in January 2013. As a part of this project, current two-lane steel bridge will be replaced with a four-lane bridge, and lanes from Cedar Road to Great Bridge Boulevard will be widened from two lanes to four. Other changes include:

  • New interchanges at Cedar Road, Bainbridge Boulevard/Dominion Lakes and Great Bridge Boulevard
  • Fully automated E-ZPass toll system
These improvements will lessen congestion, provide better access to motorists and aid in faster public safety response times when accidents occur. The current construction budget is $345 million, and construction is expected to be complete in early 2017. For more information, click here.
